Hubli Chandramouleshwara Temple

This ancient Temple is located in old Hubli- residential area.  We decided to  visit this  temple late in the evening and to our surprise, it was still open. The place was quiet, calm and very peaceful. It has a huge history behind it that makes for an interesting story to know about while visiting it.

The Chandramouleshwara temple was built nine hundred years ago during the Badami-Chalukya era and followed the architectural style of other Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal temples. It is also a monument of national importance and is considered a protected monument under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites Act (1958) by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Four main doors lead to the temple and these lead to two Shiva Lingas and two Nandi statues at the entrance. The temple has beautiful sculpted walls and pillars of black granite stones. It also has intricate illustrations of dancing gods on the walls that add to the aesthetics of the temple.

Temple Timings: Open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Note: Temple does not have rest rooms and places to eat. Visitors have to make their own arrangements.
